Palace Paignton Performance!

The Concert Band played a debut performance at the Palace Theatre in Paignton on Saturday 23rd April 2022, St George's Day, in aid of the British Red Cross Appeal for the Crisis in Ukraine. The concert was opened with the brilliant Jacob Fanfare and our National Anthem and the anthem of Ukraine and we were particularly delighted to welcome some friends from Ukraine in the audience.

Originally billed as a War Movies concert, the decision was made to change it to a Big Movies concert which included a medley of tunes from the The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dad's Army, Mary Poppins, Ladies in Lavender, Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Footage from the movies were projected on the big screen behind the band throughout the performance adding a spectacular visual third dimension.

Joining us in the Band were a handful of additional instrumentalists so, a special thanks to them for helping us out on this auspicious evening. Our very own Jess, now a member of the Royal Marine Band Service, drove all the way down from Scotland especially to help us out on percussion, well done Jess!

Our audience were made up largely of the lovely people of Paignton who had nothing but praise for our first performance at the Palace Theatre. A big thank you to them for coming along, it was great to see you. Thanks also to the Theatre staff for looking after us so well. I think we'll be back quite soon!
