Fantastic Flavel Fans!

Our Fantastic Flavel Fans treated the Concert Band to a rousing round of applause at the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal concert on Friday 29th April 2022. This was the second concert of a series in aid of the war in Ukraine. Our lovely Dartmouth audience were delighted to have 'their' band back on stage and were overjoyed to be able watch film footage of each movie theme on the big screen whilst the band played 'live' through each piece. Colin, our new conductor, kept the audience entertained with his 'legendary' jokes and his interjections of life in general, all jolly good stuff. The programme started off with the UK and Ukraine national anthems and went on to include the themes from The Dambusters, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Pirates of the Caribbean and many others. Our Soloists featured Rose Sage who played a delightful solo flute arrangement of 'Ladies and Lavender' and Mick Jones who settled the audience with a soothing rendition of 'What a Wonderful World' on tenor sax. Special thanks go to Phil Hayward and Rose Sage who set up and managed the concert from start to finish. Finally, thanks go out to everyone who came along last night, to the staff at the Flavel and of course, to the Band itself for their support of this very important cause for the people of Ukraine - 'Slava Ukraini' 🇺🇦
