The Big Band wowed the crowd on Saturday 7th May 2022 at the Dart Music Festival and what a crowd it was! The sun was shining and the sky was blue, it was a perfect music festival day in Dartmouth. With an exciting and varied programme compiled by the band's leader Ken Parr, the Band treated the audience to a lively and interesting musical performance with pieces to please folk of any age. Opening up the sequence was a firm favourite, Strike Up The Band and the programme unfolded from there to include, 'Police Squad' (especially included to celebrate the long and distinguished career of one of the Band's members who has recently retired from the Police Force). This lead us onto some beautiful songs sung by our very own Lucy including 'My Baby Just Cares For Me'. This was followed by that well known American TV series show theme 'Sesame Street' which was arranged by the legendary 'high note' trumpet player, Maynard Ferguson showcasing our awesome first trumpet, Mike Brewer. Mike Jones then formed our Grand Finale by closing the performance with a superb rendition of Michael Buble's 'Cry Me A River'. A superb gig made all the better by our fantastic audience and some gorgeous tropical weather. Here's to next year....
